Holger Zurbrüggen is a good, gutsy chef. In the Nikolaiviertel, he's opened his second Restaurant Balthazar.

The Nikolaiviertel is a paradoxical example of a village-like situation modelled on prefab buildings and old buildings. It's also mainly tourists who come here, and you can generally see that from what's on the menu. Holger Zurbrüggen has entered the fray and opened a really good restaurant a few weeks ago. His style: German and French classics meet modern Asian influences. There's something for everyone on the menu. There's even a range of prices. The lunch menu for 20 € is worth every cent. On the a la carte menu, you'll find Asian beef salad, guinea fowl ravioli and truffled brie. With Balthazar, no one needs to be embarrassed on behalf of Berlin's cuisine, because Holger Zurbrüggen is showcasing what it can do! (emh)
