When designer and performance artist Cantemir Gheorghiu walked into a club wearing a pair of cardboard glasses, he really just wanted to ridicule the current nerd glasses trend in Berlin. But when people immediately started grabbing his faux-glasses off his nose, Gheorghiu quickly sensed his chance, filed for a patent and started serially producing cardboard glasses. The first, plain model was followed by designs sporting all sorts of colors and decorations, all of them manufactured from leftover print material. When he discovered how well things were going, Gheorghiu expanded his business - he now also makes cardboard bowties, watches, ties and combs.
